 Primary education

At SIH, students in the Primary School are taught using a combination of the UK National Curriculum and the Oxford International Curriculum for Key Stages 1 to 6. Both curricula are internationally recognised and provide a high standard of knowledge, skills and understanding across subjects such as English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Art, Music, Physical Education, ICT, and International Studies.

The Oxford International Curriculum promotes critical thinking, creativity and a global perspective among students. Its emphasis on inquiry-based learning encourages students to explore subjects deeply, fostering a love for learning and preparing them for future challenges. This curriculum aligns with global educational standards and supports the development of well-rounded individuals equipped for a dynamic world.

Additionally, our curriculum integrates elements of sustainability and wellbeing, helping students understand their role in creating a sustainable future. By incorporating themes of environmental responsibility, social awareness, and personal health, we ensure that our students not only acquire knowledge but also develop a sense of responsibility towards their communities and the planet.

Thai in Primary

Emphasising Thai Language Learning at SIH

At Southern International School, we recognise the significance of Thai language education for our students. As an international school where English serves as the primary medium of instruction, it remains essential for our students to engage with the Thai language and culture throughout their educational journey.

Our Thai curriculum is structured around four core strands: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. To cater to the diverse linguistic backgrounds of our students, we offer two distinct levels of Thai classes:

Thai First Language

This programme is designed for students who speak Thai at a mother-tongue level, providing an in-depth exploration of the language.

Thai as a Foreign Language

We also offer Thai as a Foreign Language for students who do not possess a mother-tongue proficiency in Thai, ensuring they receive tailored support to develop their language skills.
