Early years
SIH takes great pride in the excellence of our Early Years section. Our Early Years program has received international acclaim for its exceptional care for children. We are honored to be the first whole school with a nursery in Thailand to be awarded the 'Quality Counts' mark at the Platinum level by the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA). This prestigious recognition signifies the highest standards of care and education. SIH Early Years is only the second Early Years/Nursery section to achieve this remarkable distinction.
The curriculum in our Early Years program is a blend of the UK National Curriculum Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and a well-rounded approach that emphasises children's exploration and inquiry. The Early Years Foundation Stage focuses on seven key areas of learning and development, fostering interconnected growth. These key areas ignite children's curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, building their capacity to learn, form relationships, and thrive.
Our holistic program empowers children to take control of their own learning environment. By incorporating play and inquiry, we create an atmosphere that encourages self-directed exploration. This combined curriculum not only enhances academic competencies but also nurtures essential social skills, preparing SIH students for a well-rounded and enriching educational journey.
Learning through Play
At SIH we have adopted the learning through play and inquiry method. Play teaches children life skills, enriches their development and helps them to make sense of the world around them. Learning through play in our school includes:
Sand and water play, Mud play, Outdoor play, Art, Stories, Role play, Music and songs, Sensory play and much more.
All of these activities enable children to develop their physical, social, emotional, cognitive, creative, communication and language skills. Children are guided by our teachers to enable opportunities for learning through play. Our teachers encourage development such as helping children to express themselves, to problem solve, to negotiate and acquire important social skills such as taking turns and making friends.
